Obituary for Annedell Williams Russell (Williams)

Annedell Williams Russell peacefully met her Savior on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Annedell was born July 6, 1928 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Leroy “Roy” Williams and Opal Smith Williams. She had an older brother, Leroy Williams, Jr. and they were raised by their mother (Opal) and stepfather (Daddy Joe) Montgomery.

Annedell met James Byron Russell after he returned from World War II in October 1945 and they married upon her graduation from Heavener High School in May of 1946. Two sons, James Jr. and Richard, were born in Heavener, Oklahoma. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio where Byron worked for the Norfolk and Western Railroad, and daughter Andrea was born in 1951. Returning to Oklahoma in 1954, the family resided in Oklahoma City, and twins Katherine and Kenneth were born in 1957.

Annedell was a devout Christian and a devoted wife and mother. After all of her children were school-age, she worked for the Oklahoma State Election Board and the Oklahoma State Senate. She had an ear for and loved all kinds of music, especially gospel. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Even after losing her eyesight due to macular degeneration, she was still able to play the piano and could even help you out if you forgot the words. Her first concern was always about her “babies” which included her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she had nicknames for all of them. She was anxiously anticipating the birth of a new grandchild.

Annedell was preceded in death by her parents Roy Williams, and Opal and Joe Montgomery, brother Leroy Williams, Jr., husband James Byron Russell, daughter Andrea Jane Coleman and great granddaughter Ashley Lake Russell. Annedell is survived by her three sons Jim Russell, Rick Russell, and Kenny Russell, her daughter Kathy Brotherton (husband Terry), grandchildren Rick Russell, Jr., Christina Ruth Coleman, Jessie Brotherton and Cody Brotherton (wife Jessica), great grandchildren Kane Russell, Braeden Russell, Maximus Palovik and Maverick Palovik. Annedell also leaves an extended family and many friends, including special friend, Gordon Olson.

Family service to be held at Whisler Cemetery.
