Obituary for Bryan Francis Sweeney (Sweeney)

Viewing will be 4PM-8PM Monday and Tuesday at Vondel Smith Mortuary, 6934 S Western Ave.

A Wake service to celebrate and honor Bryan’s life will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday November 29, 2022 at the South Colonial Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S Western Ave.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 4201 S McKinley Ave with burial following at the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, OK.


Bryan Francis Sweeney passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the age of 92. The son of Veronica H. Gappa Sweeney and Eugene Sweeney, Bryan was born on July 30, 1930 in Union City, Oklahoma. Bryan grew up attending schools in the Union City area and graduated from Union City High School in 1949. On April 30, 1950 Bryan married his one true love, Mary Ann Brown and together shared more than 72 years of marriage together. This union of marriage was blessed with four children. In addition to being a loving husband and devoted father, Bryan provided for his family and served as a welder and butcher for many years before retiring in 1992. He was very passionate about his farm and avid fan of all OSU Cowboys sports, but nothing was as important as being with his family whom he loved with all of his heart. Bryan will be fondly remembered as a wonderful husband, great Dad, and very special Grandpa and Pappy. He loved and cared deeply for his family and he will be held close to our hearts each day.

Brother, Leon Sweeney;
Son, Michael Sweeney.

Wife of 72 years, Mary Ann Sweeney;
Daughter, Sharon Feddersen;
Daughter, Danna Brown;
Son, Patrick Sweeney;
Sister, Mary Ann Gilleran;
10 Grandchildren: Brent, Andrea, Ryan, Michael II, Matthew, Macie, Bryan, Michelle, Erin and Emily;
15 Great Grandchildren;
1 Great-Great Grandchild;
As well as many other extended family, church family and dear friends.
