Obituary for Donald "Don" Gilbert Lee, Sr.
Donald Gilbert Lee, Sr. was born February 18, 1934 in Oklahoma City the son of Ernest Lee and Joyce Gwendolyn (Lewis) Lee. He completed this life on Monday, November 7, 2022 at his home at the age of 88. He was a beloved father, husband and family patriarch. A Godly man who loved and was loved by many. He leaves a legacy to Christ that influenced and inspired others to follow.
Don was raised in Oklahoma City where he was a 1951 graduate of Classen High School. He went on to earn a degree in Marketing from Oklahoma City University. While at OCU he was a member, and served as president, of Kappa Alpha fraternity. Don worked in, acquired businesses and later developed a distributorship selling educational products. He loved to play golf, spend time with family, his pets and horses.
Don married Frances Elaine Abell on June 29, 1958. They made their home in Oklahoma City where they raised their three children. Don and Frances were active members of St. Stephens Presbyterian Church where Don enjoyed being a part of the men’s prayer breakfast and weekly Bible study. He also has served as deacon and elder. He served with multiple charitable organizations, rotary clubs, professional associations and coached countless hours of boys and girls little league sports.
Don and Frances were married 50 years when she preceded him in death on March 10, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Pvt. Robert E. Lee and Melvin L. Lee.
Don is survived by his son, Donald G. Lee, Jr. and his wife Jenny; his daughters, Gwen Henry of Chandler, OK and Lynn Lee and her partner Lynette of Yukon, OK; his 5 grandchildren and his 11 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Friday, November 11, 2022 at St. Stephens Presbyterian Church. It will be a CELEBRATION of life. It will be CASUAL and you are encouraged to wear GOLF ATTIRE. A gathering will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
