Ophelia Wheeler

Ophelia Wheeler passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the age of 89. She was born on September 14, 1932 to her parents, Alfred and Jeanette (Raines) Cofer, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Ophelia’s early years were spent in the area of Ninnekah and Agawam, Oklahoma. Ophelia married Herman Lee Wheeler on July 25, 1949 in Gainesville, Texas and spent more than 60 years together until his passing in 2010. Herman and Ophelia started a family not long after marrying and had two sons, Steve and Robert. Ophelia worked at Wix-Dana/Air Refiner for 23 years where she met many friends that she kept in contact with for many years after her retirement.
Ophelia was preceded in death by her:
Parents ~ Alfred and Jeanette Cofer;
Husband of 60 years ~Herman Lee Wheeler;
Brother ~ Robert Cofer.
Sister ~ Laverne Parham
Ophelia is survived by her:
Son ~ Steve Wheeler and his wife, Denice of Tuttle, Oklahoma;
Son ~ Robert Wheeler and his wife, Tami of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;
Granddaughter ~ Stephanie Sharp and her husband, Trey of Tuttle, Oklahoma;
Granddaughter ~ Jennifer Mcmillian and her husband, Tommy of Choctaw, Oklahoma;
Grandson ~ Robert Wheeler and Drew Blythe of Little Axe, Oklahoma;
Great Grandchildren ~ Major Sharp, Payton Wheeler, Makenzie Wheeler, Heston Nelson, Chayton Nelson and Kingston Mcmillian; As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Our “Memaw” loved having everyone over for dinners and going to the Wheeler family reunions to see everyone and catch up with the family. All of us will miss her so much, but we know she is at peace now and reuniting with Papaw.
The family would like to thank all of the employees at Featherstone Assisted Living Center and Centric Home Health for all of the care and kindness shown to Ophelia and the Wheeler family.
