Jack Durham Edwards
June 17, 1932 – January 15, 2022
Jack Durham Edwards was born in Shelby, NC the son of Arthur Durham and Eleanor “Fannie” (White) Edwards. He came to Oklahoma City in 1952 and went to work for Lee Way Motor Freight. While serving in the US Army near Atlanta, GA he met his wife, Linna Davis Edwards. Shortly after their wedding on Nov. 5. 1954, they returned to Oklahoma where Jack continued his employment with Lee Way Motor Freight as a local truck driver until they closed in 1984. He then worked for HTB, Inc. until retirement in 1992.
He was an active member of Southern Hills Baptist Church where he enjoyed serving as a greeter and usher for many years.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Linna; his parents, three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his daughter Diane Powers and her husband Mike of Sherwood, AR, son David Edwards and his wife Jana of Beggs, OK. Grandchildren: Amber Hefner, Todd Hefner and his wife Vennetta, Ashlee Coltrain and her husband Tim, and Nate Edwards and his wife Ellen. Great-grandchildren: Tyler, Joslyn and Autumn Hefner, Ty Coltrain and Tatum Edwards. He is also survived by his one remaining sister in North Carolina, Leona Plaster.
