Obituary for Margaret Willidean Douglas (Nelms)

Margaret Willidean Douglas
October 26, 1935 – December 31, 2022

Margaret Willidean (Nelms) Douglas, 87, passed away from this life on Saturday, December 31, 2022 after several years of battling various health issues. She was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on October 26, 1935, the only child of Rufus Kenneth and Rubena Willidean (Koller) Nelms. She grew up in Duncan, Oklahoma where she graduated from Duncan High School in 1953. In 1959, Margaret and her parents moved to Oklahoma City, where they soon became members of South Penn Church of Christ. While in Oklahoma City, Margaret met the love of her life, future husband, Donald “Don” Douglas, whom she married on August 21, 1964. They had two children, David and Debra. Margaret was a stay-at-home mom during their formative years. She was a talented seamstress, making clothes for her family, others and for a time had a small “business” doing clothing alteration work for customers out of the home. She was a faithful Christian woman, remaining a member of the South Penn congregation until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her:
Parents ~ Rufus and Rubena Nelms
Husband of 58 years ~ Don Douglas who recently passed away on December 23, 2022 just eight days prior to Margaret’s home going.

She leaves behind her loving family:
Son ~ David Douglas and his wife, Malinda of Oklahoma City, OK
Daughter ~ Debra Walton and her husband, Jason of Newalla, OK
Grandchildren ~ Caitlin Piette, Jordan and Kaylee Douglas, and Jacob and Jonah Walton
Great Grandson ~ Zachary Piette
As well as many bothers and sisters in Christ at South Penn.
