Obituary for Marguerite Sarah "Maggie" Colley (Moore)

Marguerite Sarah (Maggie) Moore Colley, 101, was born December 5, 1921, in Mound Valley, Oklahoma
to Sarah Minerva Elam Moore and Jess Avery Moore the fifth of five children.

She passed into the arms of her Savior on January 19, 2023. Maggie was born at home with a local doctor and midwife. She graduated salutatorian of her senior class. After graduation Maggie moved to Oklahoma City to work at McDonald Douglas to make airplanes for the war effort. She tested so high on her employment
application she became an inspector and received her training in a classroom in Stillwater upstairs from
the current location of Eskimo Joe’s. During this time her roommate invited her to a bowling party and
also included Wayne Colley. Wayne wasn’t too keen on a bowling party until he saw Maggie’s shapely
legs and decided he wanted to go and meet this pretty girl. This began a love story that lasted 60 years.
They married in May 1948 and started their family. At one time they had four children under the age of
six and later four teenagers. They traveled with Wayne’s military career that took them to Fort Polk, LA,
San Antonio, TX, Fort Riley, KS and finally back to Oklahoma City. Maggie has said the years her children
were growing up as the happiest time of her life.

Maggie has outlived her parents, brothers Clabe and Charlie and sisters Blanche and Mae and her beloved husband Wayne “Doc,”

She is survived by her children Karen Hoffman (Ray) of San Rafael, CA, Steve Colley (Judi) of Edmond, Suzanne “Suzi” Clowers (Dennis) of Oklahoma City, Jeff Colley (Mary) of Edmond. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and one on the way. She leaves a legacy of laughter and love.

The family would like to thank Amanda, Jeremy, April and Liz of Traditions Hospice for their tender care of mother during her last days. The family requests donations be made in Maggie’s honor to Infant Crisis Services, 4224 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73105, infantcrisis.org

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel.
