Obituary for Rayma J Boyle

Rayma J. Boyle (Lucas) passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the age of 93. The daughter of Andrew and Katherine (Maksem Flaker) Lucas, Rayma was born on October 13, 1929 in Akron, Ohio. Rayma married her high school sweetheart, Jake, when they were just 17. She was a devoted wife of Gail “Jake” for 75 years. This marriage was blessed with three wonderful children, Dorothy Boyle, Lucine “Sis” Cross and son, Gail “Jake” Boyle. Rayma and Jake moved their family from Ohio to OKC in 1966, a move dictated by Jake’s employer, Leeway Motor Freight. Rayma was known for being welcoming to friends and family. Her door was always open to anyone. Rayma had a strong work ethic and dabbled into just about anything. She even surprised her kids and husband at the age of 50 by getting a job at Southwestern Bell as Directory Assistance. Her constant work life ended when she and her husband took their first trip to Europe visiting England and Ireland for a month. For 10+ years, Rayma volunteered at St. Anthony’s South and worked the election polls until she was NINETY YEARS OLD. She was preceded in death by her husband Gail “Jake”; four sisters, Elizabeth Lucas, Barbara Lowry, Katherine Keenan and Della Gross; brother, Andy Lucas; and granddaughter, Jennifer (Cross) Stopka. She is survived by her children, Dorothy Boyle, Lucine and Bernie Cross, and Gail “Jake” Boyle, dearly loved nieces and nephews, and her many friends. Rayma will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Donations may be made to Heifer Project International (heifer.org), a non-profit working to eliminate poverty and hunger.
